Louisiana Nights
(32" x 24", oil on canvas, Jan. 2000)This is painted over an old picture. The strange red shape is the only part of the original painting that survived my over painting. I don't know what it may look like to you, but to me it looks like part of the human anatomy, a buttock and upper thigh ending in an extremity that looks like a hand. It also looks like a frog leg. Doesn't matter really what it looks like, although I know it's fun to conjecture. What really matters, I think, is that it is a strange and compelling shape. I hope you like it as much as I do.
