Guardians (24" x 32", oil on canvas, Jan. 1999)
These two figures with double heads make me think of soldiers standing watch, Roman soldiers. Don’t ask me why. They just do. Note added three years after the above statement was written: Someone recently asked me about a different painting, "Viaduct" (painted a month after this one),"  and I said there were two figures in it that reminded me of Roman soldiers, not remembering that I had posted the same statement about this one. They must have grown out of similar mindsets.
