Beyond Repair
(24" x 32", oil on canvas, Feb. 2001)

I dug out an old painting that I no longer liked. It had some figures in it, and that's about all I can remember now except for a few sections in blue and green on the right that had some textural variations that I liked. I taped off those few sections and repainted everything else. Those small areas that I did not repaint are the bow-shaped area top right, the blue rectangle below that and the blue and purple rectangle at the botton. To the left of this I squeezed large globs of blue and yellow paint directly out of the tube, along the bottom edge, the laid a board across that and swept it in an upward spiral, dragging the paint. Then I repainted all the orange, green and white in the background.
